New step-by-step guide

Open-E JovianDSS HA Metro Cluster over Ethernet

Today we would like to share with you a new how-to resource that helps you to deploy a High Availability Metro Cluster architecture over Ethernet with Open-E JovianDSS.

High Availability and data protection

with Open-E JovianDSS

With the Advanced Metro HA Cluster Feature Pack for Open-E JovianDSS you can  create HA environments for two server nodes over Ethernet with a storage server at each location. This way, you benefit from a n uninterrupted workflow, continuous availability and data protection.

In our new how-to document, you will see an example setup of an Advanced Metro High Availability Cluster, that is using an Ethernet link for Disk Exports instead of SAS. It can work with JBOD-less hardware, so that disks are present in both cluster nodes and are mirrored via an Ethernet path.

Download the step-by-step guide with the following contents:

  • Hardware configuration
  • Network Configuration including creating Ring and Management Bond, creating Storage Export bond, selecting the default gateway, and creating a second cluster node
  • Time and date settings
  • Nodes Binding and Ping Nodes
  • Mirroring path
  • Creating a new Pool
  • Entering the Virtual IP
  • Critical I/O handling setup
  • Starting the Cluster Service, System Monitoring Setup and Failover test
