Open-E JovianDSS case study:

High Availability storage for test equipment specialist

-

Today we would like to share with you a new customer case study with Open-E JovianDSS. Find out how our partner Boston Server & Storage Solutions from Germany helped COMPRION, a world leader in manufacturing test solutions for terminals and smart cards, implement a reliable and high-performing storage solution.

Problem: Existing environment reached EOL and was not compatible

Solution: Software Defined Open-E JovianDSS on Boston hardware

-

COMPRION has already been using a Software Defined Storage solution, but it turned out that it caused huge downtimes as their hardware and software combination was not compatible and the integration was far from perfect. As their hardware reached end-of-life, COMPRION started looking for a new solution, and approached Open-E Partner  Boston Server & Storage Solutions  from Germany.

-

Boston delivered new hardware, integrated the old servers with the company’s environment, and installed  Open-E JovianDSS  - based on ZFS and Linux. In the end, it turned out to be a great success:

-

“We are absolutely happy with our new Software Defined solution. The intuitive interface of Open-E JovianDSS is much easier to use than the previous one. The administrative effort could also be reduced significantly. Implementing the software was very easy as it was similar to our old storage environment. Moving the data during ongoing operations also worked very well by using vCenter and caused no downtime at all."

Sebastian Wegener,

IT administrator at COMPRION
