SAN-storage device instead of fileserver: iSCSI performance test: DataCore SANmelody 2.0 vs, Open-E iSCSI Enterprise 1.51
While it is the top version of the product family, Open-E iSCSI Enterprise is only half the price of the basic SANmelody kit. The latter is clearly more sophisticated, but Open-E provides a better price-per-performance ratio for small - to medium - sized enterprises. Proof can also be found in the benchmark results: Open-E iSCSI dominates all disciplines except in I/O performance.
Many Ways lead to IP-SAN
Open-E-Storage-Appliances are well suited for administrators that like to assembe their storage systems themselves. The bootable thumb driver is very flexible insertable and supports many prior and current storage components as well as processors. The iSCSI-target of the DSS and the iSCSI-R3-Appliance have therefore proved of value in the Real-World Labs Poing in the long run.
Solution providers take note: This is vendor which have some hot technology and want to work with the channel.
