Read MoreThe Intel® D7-P5510 SSD was reviewed by the Open-E Quality Assurance Team as a data disk for all-flash storage solutions (both Single-Node and Cluster configurations). During the evaluation, it was shown to perform extremely well in a variety of tests including random and sequential reads as well as writes. It also underwent functional testing for system stability, Open-E JovianDSS system compatibility, drive failure simulations, and disk activity and health monitoring.

So why does the Intel® D7-P5510 make for a good data disk in all-flash solutions? There are several reasons for this. For one, as a performance-optimized SSD, it has high read and write operation speed in all random, sequential, and mixed operations when compared to its predecessor, the Intel® P4510. This allows it to excel in the role as having these performance indicators on a high level is essential for data disk usability, especially in the all-flash data storage setups.
The Intel® D7-P5510 is also capable of working at and maintaining a low level of latency across the board; which is another factor that has to be considered when determining what kind of disks an organization should purchase for their all-flash storage solutions.
Lastly, it also has a suitable durability level (it has up to 7.0 petabyte lifetime writes) for the role, meaning that once it’s purchased and starts getting used, an organization can rely on it to stay the course and work until at least its warranty expires. This is important as low levels of durability lead to more failures, less predictability/ system stability, and overall just a lower level of output due to the constant replacements that have to be made to keep the system going.
Intel® D7-P5510 SSDs Benefits in a Nutshell
Testing has shown that the Intel® D7-P5510 is capable of achieving incredible performance under the appropriate conditions. This new generation of Intel® drives will assist in the creation of enterprise-grade data storage setups that can meet even the most demanding business purposes, and data center performance requirements in terms of manageability, and I/O needs across a wide range of workloads. “The Intel® D7-P5510 has proven itself in the data storage disk role and is a much better choice than the previously suggested variant, the Intel® P4510,” says Krzysztof Franek.
