Krzysztof Franek
CEO and President
Krzysztof (Kristof) Franek founded Open-E in 1998, and has been serving as Open-E's CEO and President since. Krzysztof is a widely recognized expert on the storage market, and has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry in various sales & managerial leadership positions. Kristof led OEM sales at Logitech Germany, and served as one of the top sales producers at 3ware/AMCC and Kenwood Technologies. Prior to Open-E Kristof was General Manager at Aztech Systems GmbH, a publicly listed East Asian manufacturer of multimedia PC components. Krzysztof is an engineer by training, and received his Master of Engineering degree from the University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
Janusz Bak
CTO
Janusz Bak joined Open-E in 1999, and has been serving as Open-E's CTO since. Janusz has over 30 years of software engineering experience, and is a recognized expert on storage technologies. Before Open-E Janusz headed up German support operations at Aztech Systems, a publicly listed East Asian manufacturer of multimedia PC components. Prior to Aztech, Janusz developed the service and support function of Mega, a Polish IT systems house. Janusz is an engineer by training, and received his Master of Engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
Topper Power
Senior Vice President Business Development
In late 1998 Topper took a leave of absence from a VC firm to help Krzysztof Franek launch what would become Open-E. Topper wore many hats in those early days, handling marketing initiatives including press relations and product benchmark testing, pursuing business planning and product sourcing initiatives, managing bank relations and recruiting open-e’s first employees. After returning to VC work, Topper went on to hold senior positions in several prominent international firms, among other Nokia, and Alcatel-Lucent, where he has been responsible for structured finance transactions. During this time Topper has continued to serve in an occasional advisory capacity, which included providing guidance to Krzysztof on working with a VC investor in Open-E. He has recently returned to Open-E in a formal capacity to head business development efforts to support new growth initiatives.
Todd Maxwell
Vice President of Global Support and Technical Sales
In 2006, Todd Maxwell joined the Open-E team to grow and support new and existing markets for North America and Canada. Todd has more than 30 years diverse experience in the storage market and is a certified CNE and MCSE and holds certifications in NetFrame Super Servers, Compaq, HP and wireless technologies. Todd’s professional career has led him to technology leadership with GE Capital ITS, Hypercom Corp, Dot Hill and SpeedNET. Todd received his BA from DePaul University in Chicago.
Mirosław Franek
Vice President of Engineering
Miroslaw Franek joined Open-E in 2001 to oversee Open-E’s engineering and software development as the Vice-President of Engineering. Miroslaw has over 30 years of software development experience including game development, VGA drivers, smart card reader development and financial software for Stock Exchanges. Miroslaw received his Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Silesia (Gliwice - Poland).
Moya Joosten
Senior Director of Finance
Moya Joosten began working with Open-E in 2015 as Senior Director of Finance. Moya has more than 30 years of experience in senior financial positions and has an extensive background developing and administering multi-faceted business strategies, policies and procedures for small and medium sized, public and private companies. Her roles included: Accounting Manager at National Sea Products (now Highliner Foods), a $200 million, multi-business unit food processing company, Treasurer at Cabletron Systems, Inc., a public networking company where she oversaw various financial areas including treasury, financial planning and analysis, credit and collections, accounts payable, and stock option administration, Director of Finance and Accounting at Phillips Exeter Academy a world renowned independent secondary school and CFO of Granite State Minerals, a privately held, multi-location, leading importer and supplier of highway deicing salt. Moya has a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Boston College and an MBA in finance from Case Western Reserve University.
