We’ve been using redundant storage systems from EUROstor for three generations now. For us, some of the benefits of the new HA metro cluster include increased performance and improved system management through Open-E JovianDSS as well as the significantly increased storage capacity. Highly competent employees, great personal advice, a high level of trustworthiness and ultimately a good price-performance ratio were all crucially important for our decision in favor of EUROstor.

We sleep much better now than with the previous solution. As the system works consistently and quickly, we have significantly fewer support cases than previously when the system was reaching its performance limits.

When looking at the solutions from other vendors it was all tied into them, their service and support packages, and if anything went wrong, we would have to wait for them, there would be nothing we could really do. In addition their costs were so much, we wouldn’t be able to go for a hugely redundant solution, and we would be relying on the expensive support to sort our issues if any arose. 100% satisfied with the solution, the system stability is 100%, we have not yet had a second of downtime since we installed our first Open-E Server in April 2020, and since we upgraded this to be a Metro High Availability Failover cluster it would need multiple failures across multiple hosts to be in risk of being corrupted. I love how we can move the storage from one node to another, and reboot the hosts if needed, it’s really slick.

The main reason we have chosen the redundant fail-proof storage solution based on Open-E JovianDSS presented by Boston Server & Storage Solutions was the perfect harmonization of stability, performance, scalability, and flexibility (which is more and more important these days). It allows us to react perfectly to the market needs. Another noteworthy aspect is the amount of electricity saved, about 4 kWh per day, which, thanks to the modern hardware, also benefits the environment and has a positive impact on our electricity costs. I’ve been managing the IT infrastructure of Möbel Preiss for more than 20 years. I was able to see many server systems coming and going. But the Open-E DSS V7 cluster solution turned out to be a solution tailor-made for us. In compariston to the DELL storage solution we used before, we achieved real redundancy and it was noticeably faster. In my opinion, Open-E has raised the bar even higher with Open-E JovianDSS. The setup was installed and brought into production at e-shelter on August 30, 2017. Apart from a single planned shutdown in Nov 2018 due to a JovianDSS update, there hasn’t been a single disk failure nor a second of downtime since then. We use Dell hardware in our company and we also wanted to run our Open-E High Availability Cluster on this platform. We were convincingly and competently consulted regarding the selection of suitable hardware as well as the subsequent configuration. The result is a High Availability Cluster with an outstanding price-performance ratio. Partly because ITgration GmbH understood how to implement the project in such a way that it perfectly met our requirements.

The employees in the terminal server sessions with the frontend of the CRM were impressed by the high performance of Open-E JovianDSS. As a test, we also ran these SQL VMs on the old DSS V7 cluster. The initial opening of an address database (about 2.2 billion addresses) took up to 22 seconds in the old system, the second opening went down to 17 seconds. The same VMs open the address database on Open-E JovianDSS system in less than 2 seconds. The second opening of all databases is obviously not measurable because of the good caching. In addition, videos for online training and internal promotional purposes run from Open-E JovianDSS Cluster did not indicate any performance slumps to date.
