Open-E, a builder of SAN and NAS environments, on Monday announced that it has added Off-Site Data Protection Services for Backup and Disaster Recovery to its Open-E JovianDSS platform. The new service enables asynchronous replication to local or remote locations for VMware, Hyper-V or XenServer environments. With the technology, snapshots can be created and snapshot deltas asynchronously replicated. The replication is available at no cost to Open-E Jovian DSS users.

The storage management software is now equipped with Off-site Data Protection Service (ODPS) for Backup and Disaster Recovery. Off-site data protection is a strategy for disaster recovery to send business-critical data out of the main storage location. This way, servers with crucial data can easily be restored in case of an unexpected disaster.
