Thousands of patients who visit medical facilities generate an enormous amount of data, which poses a real challenge for data storage administrators from the healthcare industry. Here is a story of a company that had to cope with such a challenge. BoRad group medical practice provides medical services in 7 different locations placed in the Ruhr region in Germany. They specialize in providing radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy treatments.
In order to keep up with the growing needs for efficient and safe data storage, their IT service provider CKNS-Dienstleistungen GmbH turned to Starline Computer - a German provider of data storage solutions who utilized Open-E JovianDSS in their project. Its main objectives were the following:

Challenges
BoRad group medical practice needed a more advanced data storage solution, ready to scale up, while also providing an excellent environment for virtualization. They also wanted to avoid using a cloud infrastructure not to violate legal regulations in terms of data storage (GDPR).
Solution
After a positive experience with Starline Computer and Open-E in the past, CKNS-Dienstleistungen GmbH decided to cooperate with them again! The new solution is based on Open-E JovianDSS software, which runs on an active/active SMB High Availability Shared Data Storage Cluster over Ethernet.
Achieved Result
The new data storage system was smoothly integrated with the already existing infrastructure. It provided not only a high availability of data, quick access to it but also ensured that the group practice respects the legal standards of the medical industry.
