Cyberattacks using malicious ransomware software have become more and more disruptive for business and public institutions alike. However, with the proper data storage protection in place, you can avoid the serious consequences of having your data encrypted or potentially even lost.
Open-E JovianDSS provides features that enable you to revert your system back to the state it was in right before any malware attack. With these features, you can go back to being fully operational in no time, with no additional costs, or any risk of having to pay the ransom.
Open-E JovianDSS’ anti-ransomware solution is based on consistent snapshots, taken and stored according to our customizable retention plans. A snapshot copies the data set at any single point in time, and Open-E JovianDSS allows you to then go back to that point in time whenever you'd like. You can take an unlimited number of snapshots in a scheduled frequency that you set, so that you'll always be able to go back to the latest version of your data.
Snapshots are read-only, so they cannot be encrypted if a ransomware attack occurs. After you notice that your system was targeted, you can simply go to the last snapshot taken before the attack and roll it back to that point to restore all your data. You can also copy selected files from the snapshot or clone if needed.
The snapshot feature is very cost-effective since it doesn’t require as much data storage space as a data backup. Once the initial snapshot is taken, the next snapshots only copy the changed data and make references to the initial snapshot. You still get access to all the snapshots in the timeline (so that you're able to restore data from any of the previous snapshots), but the space occupied by the copies is very small.
Thanks to this resource-friendly technology, you can take an unlimited number of snapshots, without significantly decreasing your storage space, and, rather importantly - your system performance. For even more protection, you can choose to get Open-E JovianDSS On- & Off-Site data protection to protect your snapshots and other data against hardware failure, natural disasters, and other unexpected events.
